  • This Guideline describes areas of concern when consideringfiltration systems that will be effective in eliminating traceamounts of airborne molecular contamination (AMC), here defined asless than 1 part per million by volume (ppmv), from the airsupplied to cleanrooms and other controlled environments. Thisdocument discusses various applications, potential points of use,filtration methods, materials of construction, performancecomparison, and follow-up assessment, secondary impacts of thefilters on the rest of the heating, ventilating andair-conditioning (HVAC) system, and exterior impacts on thefiltration system (including environmental conditions, upsets, andspills). The Guideline establishes the types of informationrequired to design and implement an effective AMC filtrationsystem. While this document is targeted at cleanroom facilities, itcould also provide a framework for other applications such as, butnot limited to, laminar flow stations, minienvironments, isolators,and glove boxes.
